How We Worship God at First Presbyterian Church<\/STRONG><\/P>\n

Worship is the most important corporate act of the congregation of First Presbyterian Church.  When we gather to worship God, we do so bringing ourselves on God\'s grace and righteousness as shown to us in the Scriptures and witnessed to in Jesus Christ and the ongoing presence of the Holy Spirit.<\/P>\n

For our Family of Faith, worship is about God, not about us.  It is where we praise God, confess our sins and are reminded of His grace, hear the Word in voice and song, and are challenged to go out taking Christ to the world so that the world may come to Christ.  In this sense we believe that we are pulled into worship by the Good News of Jesus Christ and sent out to share the Good News we have heard proclaimed each with the Spiritual Gifts with which we have been equipped and empowered.<\/P>\n

Above all, we do so to God’s glory.  Colossians 3:17 says, \"whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.\"  This is our call in worshipping God in all that we do.<\/P>\n

Worship is the very heart of our church\'s life.<\/STRONG> We gather as the community of faith to give God praise and honor, glory and power, in several worship settings.<\/P>\n

CONTEMPORARY SERVICE
<\/STRONG>Time:   8:45 AM
Place:   Gymnasium<\/P>\n

Order of Service<\/STRONG><\/P>\n

The Gathering Worship Service follows a contemporary format in a relaxed style.  The music is provided by the Praise Band and is contemporary Christian.  This service aims to create a less formal, family atmosphere, as well as to incorporate modern trends in Christian worship.<\/P>\n

Fellowship
<\/STRONG>Time: 9:45 AM
Place: McChesney Hall
<\/P>\n

Fellowship is a time for all members to gather and fellowship with one another just prior to Sunday School.

                                                            Sunday School - 10:00 AM<\/STRONG><\/P>\n

Sunday School is structured for all ages.  The timing of the Bible Study allows those attending the early (8:45 AM) service to attend Sunday School immediately after their worship service.  Sunday School runs through 10:50 AM.<\/P>\n

TRADITIONAL SERVICE<\/STRONG>
Time:  11:00 AM
Place:   Sanctuary<\/P>\n

Order of Service<\/STRONG><\/P>\n

The Traditional Service draws upon the rich heritage of the church to provide a reverent, reflective time of worship.  The music is provided primarily by the Chancel Choir and pipe organ.  Traditional elements, such as the use of liturgical components, hymns, anthems and corporate responses create opportunities for profound worship and spiritual growth.  <\/P>\n

Communion<\/STRONG><\/P>\n

Communion is served 6 to 8 times per year at both services.  These services coincide with the liturgical calendar and other special events in the life of FPC.   Home communion is also available at these times.  Please call the church office for more information.<\/P>\n

Other Information<\/STRONG><\/P>\n

Special worship events are offered on Thanksgiving Eve, Maundy Thursday, Easter Sunrise, Christmas Eve and New Year\'s Eve.<\/P>\n

Children are welcome at all worship services.  \"A Time for Children\" is part of both worship services and Children\'s Church, led by our Director of Discipleship Ministries, is held for the second half of both services. <\/P>\n

Nursery Care<\/STRONG><\/P>\n

Professionally staffed care for infants and toddlers up to 3 years is provided for all services.<\/P>\n

Bible Study<\/STRONG><\/P>\n

In addition to the Sunday School Bible Study curriculum, there are several other studies available.<\/P>\n
