Shortly after the organization of the church, a lot on the corner of West Ash and North James Streets was donated by Mr. Willis Hall to the new congregation. The church was built and completed for use in 1856 and today is deemed a Historical Site.

In January 1952 the First Presbyterian Church of Goldsboro moved from its 96-year old location on West Ash to the new education building at 1101 East Ash Street. The first service was held on January 20, 1952. The Centennial Year 1955 was marked by the laying of the cornerstone for the new sanctuary on April 17th, and the first worship service was held on Sunday, April 22, 1956.

Through the years our Church has kept abreast of the needs and changes in our community. Through loyal members the influence of Christianity has been expressed in good works in Goldsboro and around the world. Our Church has a proud past as an institution in Goldsboro, as a part of a great denomination, and as a vital segment of world wide Christianity.

However, all things past are prologue to tomorrow. No matter how proud, no matter how generous our past has been it will be as nothing unless we, today, accept the challenge before us. We can do no better than to nurture our heritage, build firmly upon it, and pass on to the present and future generations an even greater heritage of faith and good works.

With all the strife and confusion in the world today, many people sometimes wonder how long civilization can last. But in the midst of all this, it must not be forgotten that the church has "good news" to proclaim, and the section of Christ\'s church in the world. The First Presbyterian Church of Goldsboro, has been a solid rock in this community, steadily growing, faithfully serving, and always with opened doors proclaiming that Jesus Christ came that everyone might have life eternal. By the witness of its activities, and the lives of its members it says Jesus Christ is risen and is in the world today ready to transform anyone that will yield to Him and truly worship Him.

To this end we here at First Presbyterian Church are committed to:
"BRINGING CHRIST TO THE WORLD AND THE WORLD TO CHRIST"
");
